- Sunday School News -

September began a new year and March began a new quarter for our Sunday School.   We are excited to have some new teachers, although they are not new to the Edgemere Church of God.   Our new teachers are:

Aaron Bennett: Middle School
Mandee Bennett: Pre-K
Kathy Burton: Toddlers

We have just recently had to separate our Kindergarten and 1 st Grade class.   They had grown so much that the room was too small for 20 children.   Now Kindergarten and 1 st Grade each have their own classrooms.

Our Middle School+ class is our largest class and is taught by Sandy Naimaster and Aaron Bennett.   They do a great job with the pre-teens and early teens.

Teaching Sunday School is a commitment, but it is one that the Lord will truly honor and bless our teachers for.   As our teachers continue to teach our children about Jesus they are being blessed themselves by the children they teach.   It is wonderful to watch our children learn and grow in their knowledge of Jesus.

• A Message from the Sunday School Director •

I count it a privilege to be used in the capacity of Sunday School Director.   I want to be used in whatever way that I can for the Lord.

I began attending the Edgemere Church of God when I was five years old.   I can still remember, even now, many of my past Sunday School teachers; Sister Norma Gavel, Sister Betty Jo Smith, Sister Jean Wolfe, Sister Viola McBride; the list goes on.

They had a great and wonderful impact on my life, because they encouraged me to learn and memorize Bible scripture and how to look scripture up in the Bible, to memorize the books of the Bible, the different events and stories in the Bible and so much more.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 22:6 "Train a child up in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." I found this to be very true in my own life and it began as a young child in Sunday School.

In Sunday School we help to mold our children's lives.   We prepare them for their future work for the Lord.   We are raising up future teachers, future praise and worship leaders, future choir members, church workers and leaders, future pastors and evangelists.   They learn the things they will need in their daily walks.

Our children need to learn faithfulness, giving, the excitement in serving God, compassion and the love of Jesus.   They learn all of these things in Sunday School.

Thank you, Sunday School teachers for being a part of this.   Thank you for your commitment and faithfulness to our Sunday School and to our children.

May God bless you.

Your Friend and Sister in Christ Jesus,

Marsha Bennett
